• Digital Download Price

    Lola and Christmas drums

Lola đŸ¶ wants you to know that the digital download of my EP is now free/pay what you want for as long as I have download credits on Bandcamp. When/if I run out, the credits are replenished based on sales. So if enough people pay something, I can keep it priced this way!

I should have set it this way from the start. Why didn’t I? I don’t know. It’s something I leaned towards, but somewhat randomly went the other direction. This is all DIY for me and I have no clue what I’m doing when it comes to releasing music.

  • Recording Details - Bass

Lets talk about recording bass guitar!

  • Recording Details - Guitars

In this post I want to go into some of the details around how I recorded guitars on the EP. I was really bad about taking notes of exactly what I was doing each time I recorded a track, but since it didn’t really change much from song to song, I have a decent idea of what all was done.

  • Recording Process & Philosophy

I touched on some of it in my How It Started post, but I wanted to take a slightly deeper dive into the process of how I recorded the EP and some of the more philosophical thoughts I have around recording.

  • Videos

I have two video channels: Vimeo and a YouTube Channel. Vimeo is my preferred outlet since it’s ad-free. YouTube is almost unbearable these days due to ads, but I realize it’s where most people go for videos. So most (if not all) videos I do for this project will end up on both platforms. Head over to Vimeo for an ad-free viewing experience or YouTube if you don’t mind the ads and prefer them.

  • How It Started

It wasn’t called Overnight Hikes at the time, but I consider the start of this project to be the recording of a simple acoustic guitar/soft-synth loop I called Hello World. I had just purchased the student version of Logic Pro 9 at my university’s tech shop and spent a weekend learning how to use it. That simple loop kicked off what would end up being a long, more serious journey of learning how to record sounds. Wanting to record my own music started long before that, though.

  • Be Here Now video

The video for Be Here Now is out! It’s a pretty simple concept for a video, but took a while to put together. Time lapse photography with an iPhone isn’t the most streamlined process in the world. When you’re shooting 6-8 hours worth of footage and it doesn’t turn out, well
you have to do it all over again.

  • Release Info (and other general updates)

I hoped to have had more things ready to release/announce today, but I just didn’t have the time. I have a lyric video mostly ready to go for Alarm Clock. I’m just waiting on the production masters of the songs to arrive. That said, I do have like 90% of my release details nailed down

  • Introducing Overnight Hikes

tl;dr Overnight Hikes is a music and recording endeavor by me, Chris.

It’s also more than that (I hope). My goal for Overnight Hikes is that it serves as a creative sandbox for a variety of creative endeavors. Whether it’s music, photography, video, or anything else I want to explore.
